Robert L. Fogg Sr.

Poughkeepsie - Robert Llewellyn Fogg Sr., 85, a lifelong area resident, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center.

Born in Poughkeepsie on November 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Cornelius Robert and Lillian Wager Fogg. His father, Cornelius Robert Fogg, a volunteer City of Poughkeepsie fireman, died on February 14, 1928 in the infamous Boice Paper Company fire on Cottage Street in Poughkeepsie. His mother remarried to Everett Sanborn Harden.

Bob was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Fogg was a Union Carpenter with the former Local #203 in Poughkeepsie. He retired with over thirty-five years of active service.

He was a member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge BPOE #275, the National Rifle Association, and was a former volunteer fireman in Staatsburg.

An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a life-member of the Staatsburg Rod & Gun Club. He was also a former member of the Ti-Yogi Bowmen in Hyde Park.

He also enjoyed bowling, boating, and motorcycling. His hobbies also included photography.

Bob was devoted to his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand.

Mr. Fogg was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Draper Fogg, in 1999.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert L. Fogg Jr. and wife, Margaret S., of Poughkeepsie; two grandchildren, Robert Lee Fogg Sr., and Tamara Izzo and husband, Frank, all of Poughkeepsie; two great grandchildren, Robert Lee Fogg Jr. and Mikaela Mae Izzo; two brothers, Harold Harden and wife, Geraldine, of Hopewell, and Clyde Harden of Tennessee; three sisters, Beverley Cook of Hyde Park, Lois Tator of Staatsburg, and Doris Moody of Rhinebeck; sister-in-law, Ginda Harden of Pleasant Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Everett Harden.

In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm, Sunday, January 27th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. The Poughkeepsie Elks Club will conduct services at 6 pm during the calling hours.

Graveside services and burial of his ashes in the family plot at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery will be at 11 am, Monday, January 28th at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Ave., Poughkeepsie. A procession will form at the Funeral Home at 10 am.
