Sanford M. 'Sandy' LaBare

Hyde Park - Sanford Michael LaBare, 85, affectionately known as 'Sandy', died at home peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was a longtime area resident, formerly of Chateaugay, NY.

Sandy was born on June 22, 1932 in Chateaugay to the late Charles and Blanche Ryan LaBare.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. LaBare was an Engineer at IBM Poughkeepsie for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1991.

He was a communicant of St. Peter's Parish in Hyde Park; and enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors.

Sandy is survived by his wife, Gladys L. LaBare (nee Baxter) of Hyde Park; seven children, Robert LaBare (Valerie) of Oregon, Cherie Wilder of Troy, NY, Janice Novak (Joe) of Troy, NY, Lisa LaBare (Colleen) of Florida, Ann Littlefield (Jon) (Pete) of Hyde Park, Steven Harris (Lori) of North Carolina, and Michael LaBare (Melissa) of Virginia; fourteen grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Brian, Beth, Sara, Laura, Ashley, Katie, Ryan, Sophie, Isabele, Jason, Jennifer, and Tyler; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Michelle, and seven brothers and sisters.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 Pm, Sunday, May 20th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, May 21st at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
