Chris was the best Academic/Athlete I ever competed against and played with as a teammate on various sporting programs. In the classroom back in grammar school and in high school his mere presence would light up the room. In the song "Glory Days" by Bruce Springsteen the lyric goes "He could throw that speedball by you and make you look like a fool" in my life Christopher James Mahon was that pitcher.

Chris was my tax client for many many years and I always respected his easy ways and understanding of tax law and tax organization. He was a terrific guy to deal with and he will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace Chris and Condolences to his family.

There are some people you know just for a season but who make an indelible impact on you and who you will remember always. Chris is one of those people. His curiosity, honesty, humanity, penchant for thoughtful (sometimes “dark” movies), and deep love for his daughter were so evident and are some of the things I’ll remember about him. Good friends seek to introduce people like Chris to others - a true sign of someone who has warmth and goodness that needs to be shared. May those friends and the happy memories of Chris provide peace and comfort to the family Chris loved. My deepest sympathies, Lisa

I was hired by / worked for Chris over 20 years ago at DE Shaw. I always considered him to be my first mentor. He had an incredible mind and was also a truly compassionate human being. I learned of his passing today and was so very saddened by this news. My deepest condolences to his family. He will always be in my heart and memories.

My condolences to Chris's family. Chris worked tirelessly to advance the education of compliance professionals and regulators through his fantastic work with SIFMA. I am glad to have worked with on SIFMA Committees and panels at conferences over the years.

Chris was the real deal. Always thoughtful, balanced and articulate, Chris was an industry partner in every sense of the word. He advocated for what was right and did so with kindness and grace. Whether it be the industry white papers, co-chairing the SIFMA Self Reg. Committee or serving on the NAC, Chris always spoke up and and fought for what was right. He was an industry giant and we are lucky to have had him. Anyone who knew Chris well knows that he often spoke about his family, his wife, Robin and was so proud of Avery and Hudson. I am so saddened by Chris' passing and wish you all peace and hope that the happy memories sustain you through this difficult time. Warmly, Jill

I met Chris roughly six years ago at AllianceBernstein. He was intelligent, sincere, thoughtful and brutally honest - which exposed both his humanity as well as vulnerability. He clearly was one of the good guys. He touched many lives in so many different ways. He touched my life and I am grateful that I was able to get to know him. Rest in peace Chris.

I have been fortunate these many years to call Chris my friend, and he has been constant throughout -- always willing to lend an ear, help out, and offer advice. He was always very much engaged in the business of living. He would dive into pursuits with the joy of the novice, which he never remained for long! He was informed, well-read and up to date on so many topics that the words "renaissance man" come to mind. But more than this, he was a kind and caring man, who had the special gift of helping others get outside themselves, gain a different perspective and see things a bit more clearly. I was a beneficiary of that gift and of his good counsel. I will miss him dearly, and I daresay that the world is an emptier and less beautiful place without him, his friendship, his presence, his enthusiasm, his insight, his decency and his caring.

Chris was a professional colleague and also one of my dearest friends for the past 22 years. He was one of the finest human beings I've ever known, and it was an honor to be his friend. He had an extraordinary intellect and breadth of curiosity; you could talk to him about anything-- modern art, politics, ethics, economics, business, science. But I loved him most for his decency, compassion and humanity. I will deeply miss his friendship.
