Murray DALTON Obituary

DALTON - Murray Royden Dalton, a longtime resident of Preeceville SK., beloved husband of Dorothy, passed away quietly and unexpectedly at Red Deer, AB on May 7, 2022 at the age of 92. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Preeceville. Internment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. A community luncheon will take place at Club 60 following interment. Relatives and friends wishing to support the family may view a livestream by visiting Murray's tribute page at www.preecevillefuneralhome.com. Memorial donations may be made to St John's Lutheran Church, Preeceville and/or Preeceville Minor Hockey. Murray was born in a home in Preeceville, the fourth child of Franklin (Frank) and Anna (nee Molleken) Dalton on February 10th 1930. Murray enjoyed an adventurous youth of roaming the streets and countryside, hunting, fishing and hockey. In 1943, at age of 13, he was a team member of the Preeceville Bantams which won the provincial championship by defeating a Saskatoon team. He completed his grade twelve in the Preeceville High School and immediately went to work in the family business. At age 19 Murray wrote and passed an exam to become the youngest journeyman electrician in Saskatchewan. Perhaps that still stands. He continued in this business for over 65 years. During this time, he added additional journeyman certification including the trades of plumbing, gas fitting and boilerman. In all these years he served a wide community with sales, service and knowledge. His passion for mechanical contracting opened opportunities to work extensively in and for the community of Preeceville and in projects around the province, and in different countries. His interest in community saw him take rolls in various organizations. These organizations included the local school board, the local hospital board, the Lion's club, the Mackenzie Centre, Fish and Game and St. John Lutheran Church. His laughter and wit will be greatly missed by family, lifelong friends and those whom he worked with. Murray is predeceased by his parents, Franklin and Anna Dalton; brother, John (Jack); sisters, Mary Duke and Bernice Nygaard; daughter-in-law, Joy (Dwayne) Dalton; and infant daughter, Dorleen. Murray will lovingly be remembered by his faithful wife of 70 years, Dorothy; children, Dwayne Dalton, Dawn (Virgil) Hrywkiw, Delwyn (Joanne) Dalton, Dorleen (Walter) Burym, Darla (Doug) Decksheimer, Derrin (Adine) Dalton; his 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Home.
