Grace Eileen Cooksey was born on March 10, 1925, in Riedel, Kansas, the daughter of Blaine and Edith (Fordyce) Cooksey. She married Richard (Doc) Elliott on July 22, 1945, in Paola, Kansas, and they moved to Lone Tree in 1950. There she was active in TTT, American Legion Auxiliary, the Reading Buddy Program and many civic and church organizations. She was an initiator of the Lone Tree Senior Dining Program; volunteer for Iowa City Hospice for several years; director of East Side Village for ten years, and bookkeeper and receptionist at Elliott Veterinary Clinic until Doc's retirement.

Grace shared her gift of music with thousands for over 60 years, playing for church, school, and civic programs, and countless life celebrations. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she loved reading, sewing, traveling, playing cards, camping, and spending time (and an occasional "discussion") with Doc.

Survivors include three children and their families: Susan Elliott of Lone Tree, Iowa; James Elliott (Jeanne) of Chandler, Arizona; Cynthia (George) Eckhoff of Oceanside, California; grandchildren Mark, Scott, Ryan, Tyler, Kim, and Richard; great-grandchildren Jacob, Elliott, Kayla, Bryant, Tyson, Tatum Grace, Alex, Christian, Shelby, and Heather; and one great-great grandson Kai.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2014, her parents, sisters Marvelle and Martha, and nieces Ruth and Jennifer. The family would like to thank Dr. M. Craig Champion, Hospice Compassus, and Pioneer Park for many years of care and support.
