Ferdinand (Fred) M. Brutvan of South Milwaukee, WI, 94, died January 29, 2013, five months after being diagnosed with cancer. He was born January 18, 1919 in Johnson City, NY, the fourth of eight children to the late Joseph and the late Ludmilla (Medlen) Brutvan. Fred met his wife of 66 years, the late Bernette Willms, at a USO social. They were married in December, 1943, in the small attractive St. John's Church, South Milwaukee, WI. Father of Carol of South Milwaukee, F. Martin II, M.D. of Milwaukee, Barbara Ann of Williams, AZ, and Ruth (Kevin) Northrup of Winter Springs, FL. Grandfather of Andrew, Aaron, Hannah, and Noah. Brother of the late William (the late Sue Muska), the late Joseph (the late Mary Gruber), the late Stephen (the late Jeanne Kohler), the late Florence (the late Andrew) Solak, Donald (Eileen Quinlivan) of Buffalo, NY, Evelyn (Frank) Patrick of Johnson City, NY, and Velma (Robert) Hawley of Angier, NC. Fred proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a shipmate on LST 74 in the Mediterranean and on LST 979 in the Pacific. He was South Milwaukee's City Treasurer from 1962 until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially gardening, sharing his bounty with others. Fred was a man of great humility, integrity and taught by example. His deep love for family will be missed. Throughout the years, Fred was a member of numerous professional and community service organizations, giving of his time selflessly. Services were held. Burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
