Houseknecht, John, Jr.
John Kenneth Houseknecht Jr., "Jack", passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. He was predeceased by his father, John Kenneth Houseknecht. Jack is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Dianne Houseknecht; his daughters, Kristin Houseknecht, Claire Houseknecht (Seth), Carrie Shaffer (Jason), Kristy Doughty (William), and Jennifer Seymour (James); and his son, Justin Brock (Samantha). He is also survived by his mother, Hortensia (Corky) Miller; his brothers, James Houseknecht and Thomas Houseknecht; his sister, Yvonne Davis; and his nephew, Jason Humphries. He will be greatly missed by his 8 grandchildren, Christian, Erin, Hannah, William, Lilly, Luke, Katelyn and Dylan. He is also survived by his two French bulldogs, Moe and Maddie, who were very dear to him. He will be missed by his many friends and coworkers. Jack was born in 1956 in Fort Knox, KY and grew up in Springfield, VA. Jack was a graduate of the University of Virginia, and went on to have a successful career in finance. Jack previously resided in Hagerstown, MD and Lusby, MD before moving to Endwell, NY. He was a dedicated employee at Andrews Federal Credit Union in Suitland, MD as the Senior VP of Lending and CEO of SSA Federal Credit Union in Baltimore, MD before bringing his many talents to Visions Federal Credit Union in Endicott, NY. Jack was the 2002 Maryland League Professional of the Year and a Candidate for the NCUA Board of Directors. Jack was a philanthropist at heart, and was a board member of the Magic Paintbrush Project and A.V.R.E. He was devoted to his family; he loved golf, trivia, reading and karaoke. He was a Washington Redskins fan, a Trekkie, and enjoyed traveling. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street in Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service time at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any of these three organizations that were very dear to Jack: A.V.R.E., Magic Paintbrush Project, or the Humane Society of your choice.

Jack will be sorely missed. He was a role model for so many of us.

I am saddened to hear of Jacks death. We graduated from Lee High School in Springfield in1974 and reconnected when I worked in the Andrews Credit Union building many years later. He was a true gentleman and had a heart of gold. My condolences to his entire family.

I met Jack and Diane when both were employed at Andrews Federal Credit Union. He was alot of fun to be around and really took care of his employees. We always joked around the rivalry between UVA (his alma mater) and William & Mary (my alma mater). Also about our adventures of living in Calvert.
