Vestal: Henry A Jackson, 88, of Vestal passed away peacefully Tuesday May 24, 2011 at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Bella Jackson, sister Lucy Connable, and his wife Dorothy Jackson. He is survived by his 3 Children, Donald Jackson-Vestal, Jeffrey (Gerri) Jackson-Voorhees, NJ, Virginia (David) Olson-Colchester VT, 4 Grandchildren, Tracy (Tom) Terry, Amy (John) Fleischman, Matthew Olson, Lauren Olson. Henry graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He was employed by ALCO Working in Montreal, Vermont, Schenectady and Auburn, before moving to Vestal. He worked for Singer-Link as manager of Component Engineering until he retired in 1988. He was a member of St Andrews Anglican Church in Vestal for 49 Yrs. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy, where he served in North Africa, Italy, and was part of D-Day. He received the WWII victory medal, American Theatre, European-African theatre medal-4 stars. He served on the election board for the town of Vestal, and did the elderly taxes in Vestal also. He was an avid gardener, golfer, and Detroit Tiger Baseball fan. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and the physical therapists at Good Shepherd Village, and also to Dr Rai for their great care. A memorial service will be held Sunday May 29, 2011 at 1PM at Memorial Park Baptist Church 1013 Front St,Vestal. Rev Anthony Seel Pastor of the St Andrews Angelican Church will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society 13 Beech St, Johnson City, NY 13790. Arrangements are by the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home 300 East Main St, Endicott.
