Endwell: Bunk McDonald, 82, of Endwell, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012. He was born on December 20, 1929 in Endicott. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley; two sons and one daughter, Lynn (Huang Jing) McDonald of Copley, OH, Tom (Sheila) McDonald of Churchville, NY, Stacey (Chris) Dulny of Endicott; eight grandchildren, Chris (Melissa), Michael, Kristen, Erin (Karina), Ryan, Hannah, "his buddy" Bryan and Kate; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Rilei; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Morris Knapp; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bunk served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He then worked at the Pig Stand in the 50's until he opened an Endicott institution, Bunk's Lunch, in 1960. He served customers, most of whom became regulars, from IBM and several Washington Ave businesses for 22 years. Bunk had a love for baseball which included coaching for many years in Endwell, watching the Mets, and being #1 fan at his granddaughter Kate's softball games. He loved to travel and to hit the casinos. Bunk will always be known for his boisterous sense of humor, storytelling, compassion and love for his family. He will be truly missed. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street in Endicott. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
