Charlotte Beverly Herbert Baker, affectionately known as "Cricket," passed away peacefully at her home early Friday morning March 26, 2021. She was born in Smithboro, NY on March 28, 1932 during a fierce winter storm.

She was predeceased by her parents, Abner Taylor and Leora Jane (Spencer) Herbert; also by her brother-in-law, Edward Dunning in 2012; her sister Betty Hutchinson in 2016, and her brother Richard Herbert in 2017. She is also predeceased by the father of her children, Charles Baker in 1992.

Cricket is survived by her brother, James (Eileen) Herbert, of Barton; her sister, Beatrice (Suzi) Dunning, of Owego; her children, Robert Charles Baker, of Philadelphia, Bonnie (Dewey) Mead, of Owego, William Herbert Baker, of Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Jessi (Justin) Perry, of Ohio, Joann (David) Shrauger, of Owego, Russell Mead, of Owego, William Levi Baker and his fiancée, Beth, of Wisconsin, Tyler Baker of Wisconsin; her great grandchildren, Hailee and Wyatt Shrauger, of Owego, Waylon Perry, of Ohio, and Raelynn Baker, of Wisconsin. She is also survived by a dear friend since grade school, Joyce Ritzler; and wonderful neighbors, Sally Schoonover, Carl Wandella, Barb Strong; and a special cousin, Beverly Foster; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cricket worked many jobs in her lifetime, the first being a soda jerk in 1950, continuing to IBM and retiring in 1992, then to work at State Line Auto Auction. She enjoyed her flower gardens, taking care of her home, making meals for her family and making her famous cinnamon rolls, which her daughter Bonnie can now replicate. She lived her life to the fullest with church activities, election boards, senior citizens, babysitting "old people" and cleaning house for others. You could always see her dressed in Purple and if you were ever in her home, you would see it full of roosters.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, NY on Monday March 29, 2021 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Richards Funeral Home on Tuesday March 30, 2021 at 11:00am with Steve Lawrence as Celebrant, and live-streamed through www.facebook.com/Richards-Funeral-Home-665029710290903, and if you have purple in your wardrobe, please wear it. Interment will follow in Tioga Cemetery, Owego. Those wishing may consider a memorial contribution in memory of Cricket to Lourdes Hospice or the Tioga Center Fire Department or Emergency Squad.
