Chester B. Socha Sr.
of Johnson CityChester B. Socha Sr., 90, died unexpectedly at home on Friday, May 27, 2005. He was predeceased by his wife, Stella; his son, Thomas; and his infant son, Joseph. He is survived by two sons, Chester Socha Jr., Johnson City, and Thaddeus Socha, Nashua, N.H.; daughters-in-law, Joan Storey, Nashua, N.H., and Vivienne Socha, Johnson City; three granddaughters, Tiffany, Cori and Alexandra; one great-grandson, Gabriel; nieces, Cassie Reid, West Paterson, N.J., Dolores Socha, Westwood, N.J.; nephew, Joseph Socha. Also survived by relatives in Toronto, Canada and Rio de Janeiro; and his good friends, Joseph Buchinsky, James Casey, Dick Ramey and Joe Gaworecki. He was a member of All Saints National Catholic Church. Chet was a self-employed mason contractor and a master craftsman in many areas, including welding, metal fabrication and woodworking. He built several buildings in the community that are still standing after fifty years. He was a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marine.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, 9 a.m. at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 9:30 a.m. at All Saints National Catholic Church, 42 Harry L. Drive, Johnson City, where a Funeral Mass will be offered by the Rev. Dennis Ruda. Burial will be in All Saints Polish National Cemetery.
