Grace B. Simons, much loved mother and grandmother, entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2016. She was 94. Born on September 4, 1921, Grace was the youngest of four children of Mabel and Solon Barnard. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Hemlock N.Y. and attended Geneseo State College. With her husband, Henry W. Simons, she lived in Rushville, Ithaca, and Binghamton, N.Y. She was an active member of Ross Memorial Presbyterian Church. Through the years, she volunteered with handicapped children and with Meals on Wheels and worked at several jobs, including at Cornell University and Links. Her favorite was a small business that she started at home.

Grace was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Henry W. Simons, and by her three siblings, Howard Barnard, Ralph Barnard, and Doris Werder. She is survived by her three children, Allan Simons and his wife Charlotte of Prescott Valley, AZ, Doris Strakosch and her husband Ray of Newburgh, NY, and Mary Simons Montgomery of Johnson City, NY. She has one granddaughter, Margaret Strakosch, recently of Ann Arbor, MI. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jane Barnard of Hemlock, NY and Esther Damboise of Prattsburgh, NY, and by many nieces and nephews. The family sincerely thanks the nurses and staffs of St. Louise Manor and James G. Johnston Nursing Home for their many years of loving care of our mother. It was always a comfort to know that she was in good hands.
