Troitsky, Nikolai Aleksandrovich

Vestal: Nikolai Aleksandrovich Troitsky, 108, of Vestal, fell asleep in the Lord, peacefully at his home, Tuesday, May 10, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vera Troitsky and his great nephew, Andrey Chernyaev. He was born in Veshkaima, Russia on April 20, 1903. He was educated in Moscow as an Architect and after World War II was the founding director of the Institute of Studies of the USSR in Munich, Germany. Upon immigrating to the United States, he graduated from Columbia University and retired as the Slavic Bibliographer at Cornell University. He authored numerous articles and books and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was active in the Russian Emigre Community and was a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Endicott. Funeral services will be held Thursday 12:30 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Monastery in Jordansville, NY. Burial will follow in the Monastery Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
