Tom Lesko was our Little League coach and a close friend of our family. His son, Tommy, grew up with my brother Bobby and I and played about every sport a kid could play on an open lot, near our homes, on a Saturday afternoon. A memory that has stayed with me til today (will be 80 in a couple of months) was going to a 'soda shop' named Benny's Palace' on Harry L Drive and having a ROOTBEER MIKL SHAKE (for $.20 cents) and our parents went across the street to Lou's Bar and Grill for some "liquid refreshment" as well. Tom Sr taught me how to throw my first curveball in his front yard, but as I recall, I had great difficulty ever getting it over the plate. We were pretty good at 'turning double plays' though, with Tommy Jr, at Short, Bobby my bro. at second and me on First. Summers seemed to go on forever!
