Don will always be a bright star in my life, significant as we were close during our growing, coming-of-age years. We shared much ground in our short time together & he has left an indelible mark on my heart and soul. His friendship and love was unconditional and for that I am eternally in awe & reverence of him. Don was truly one of a kind, and his many gifts will leave imprints on the rest of us for eternity. Much love and peace to his family and loved ones.

Don Truesdail was a great guy. I was his student at Foster Elementary and I just loved him teaching me and our group. He never got strict and even if it was a gloomy day he brought us up with cheer and awesomeness. :-) I also hope Don's family is doing very well.

I was a student at Charles F. Johnson that he taught the cello to and let me just say he was an amazing teacher and I'm glad that I had the chance to learn from him. I give my sympathy to his wife, family, and friends. I know they miss him as much as i do.

Don was a friend from Dailard Elementary School and our son, Nick, took guitar Lessons from him. He was an amazing man. We are still in shock and disbelief that he is no longer here with us, that we can no longer drive over to his and Nancy's house on Sunday and watch him patiently teach our son how to play guitar. He was always encouraging and thoughtful, A man of character and talent. He will be very missed.

We are sadden to learn of the passing of Mr. Truesdail. He inspired my daughter to take on the Violin last year at Foster Elementary and to try the piano if she really wanted to and she has not stopped playing since. He was dearly missed when he left Foster but we knew he would inspire others. He is a major loss to the Music part of our schools and our children. Thank you Donald for touching the musicial hearts of all of our children.

Dear Nancy...I am so, so sorry about your loss. I never met Don but knew of him through your wonderful words about him. Do treasure all of the memories you have of your life with him.

Don, it was a pleasure of mine to have met you in this very short time we all have. you have helped me become more trusting of people because you were very kind. You are very talented and gifted. Don was an inspiration to young and old. He inspired people to live life to the fullest. He brought his love for music to so many. He truly loved you Nancy with all his heart. I worked at Dailard where he taught the children to enjoy playing their instruments with passion. He would be playing in our staff lounge when I would be eating my lunch. We had great conversations and he shared with me about the loves of his life. Nancy, music and his family. You are in his heart and always will be.
The students loved to set up the room for class. He inspired them to love the sounds of music and bring happiness through their instruments.

An amazingly gifted individual, both musically and in his relationships with students. I am going to miss my afterschool talks with Don and our shared mission as advocates for the student's with which we worked. He had an amazing gift in his ability to reach our most difficult students. He taught them not only music, but gave them the strength, motivation, and respect which inspired many to be the best they could be.

I am student of Mr. Truesdail, I am vice president of the Mar Vista High School Choir. Mr. Truesdail was a WONDERFUL man and he will be deeply missed by his students and friends at Mar Vista High. He had so much love for his students and we so much love for him. To know he is gone and never coming back just hurts me and makes me very sad. We love you Mr. T and we will always love you! We just heard of the passing of Mr.Truesdail. He convinced my daughter to stay in band last year when he taught at Green. He cared about his students, and that was obvious. She now has a passion to play, and this is thanks to Mr.Truesdail. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all who knew him.

We at the OB Rag blog in Ocean Beach did not know Donnie until after his death. But since then we have directly experienced the stories of those who were deeply and forever touched by this inspirational person. We have genuine grief for him and have come to lament his departure as a son of Ocean Beach, a son of creativity and music, with a rare sensitivity for learning and teaching others. Please - those who knew him during his life, understand this:
we have only come to know him since he left you. And now he has touched even more.

Don was my guitar teacher for three years and i learned so much from him. he had something really beautiful , a true love for music and a strong desire to share this with everyone. He inspired all his students and added something special to his students and friends. He will live on in the hearts, futures and music of his students friends and family. I will miss him and the sundays i spent in his room learning guitar. I will always remember his kind way of being, genuine love for music and love for the world. Our family was shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Truesdail's passing. My son was a student in the band last year at Foster Elementary. He very much loved and admired Mr. Truesdail. I was always impressed by his gentleness and patience with the kids. Our sincere condolences to his family for the tragic loss of this fine young man.

I was just notified about Don's passing and wanted to let you know that the students, staff and parents at Foster elementary have you in our thoughts and prayers. Don was the music teacher at our school last year and my daughter was lucky to be one of his students. I am the PTA president at Foster and spoke with Don many times about music, photography, travel and life. His love of music was obvious in the fun way that he taught the students. I was just looking through many of the pictures I took last year of Don with our students, there was always a smile on his face! He was too young to leave us and will always have a place in our heart.

im a former student of Mr.Truesdail. He taught my 5th grade orchestra. He was a huge inspiration to me. He pushed me to try out for the All state orchestra. Though i didint make it. Mr. Truesdail was always smiling. I was very happy to have met him. Though he wasnt at our school long, he was still a huge inspiration to me. I remember at one of our orchestra concerts he was playing with us, and he was so concentrated on his music that he was playing so hard that he broke the hairs on his bow. After the concert we had a good laugh about it. If i couldint get some notes down or a song he would take time and help me seperatly. He was a great guy if my mom was running late he would wait back until she came. When i was sad about not making all state he bought me lunch and we hung out in his room during lunch. He was a wonderful man its sad he died before his age. Im sincerely sorry for the family of Mr. Trusedail. I added my email address so if one of the family members of Mr. Truesdail would fill me in on how hes been and what not thanks.

Wow. When I heard, it was like a kick to the stomach. I remember playing with Don in high school. Everything about Don was laid back and cool. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Truesdail family.

Don was a star who shined above the rest. I consider myself lucky that I knew him and deeply saddened that he passed away. Even though I haven't seen him in over 10 years, he kept in touch through Myspace and spoke fondly of his music career and his lovely wife, Nancy. My heart goes out to his family and Nancy who he adored.

My friendship with Don started at Mario's Pizza. Seems like so long ago. I had the privelage of hanging out with him, sharing music and laughs. Though the wheels of live have separated us, the memories are still strong. Don, may you be in Heaven playing music with God.
