Jane Foley Lacy
of Binghamton
Recently predeceased by her grandmother, Elinore Foley, Jane, 27, Elinore's "favorite" granddaughter was called unexpectedly by God to be with her in Heaven on August 21, 2010. Our precious Jane was also predeceased by her grandfather, Joseph Foley; grandparents, Jane and Charles Lacy; uncle, Dan Foley; aunt and uncle Mary and Bill Stein. She is survived by her loving and adoring parents, Maggie and Charles Lacy; special Godmother, Kathleen Giles; aunt Patricia Blacker; aunts and uncles, Rosaleen and Bruce Drazen, Joan and Jerry Russin, Mary and Lenny Dick, Ellie and Jerry Donahue, Cathy and Mike Casey, Marty and Helen Foley and several cousins. Jane enjoyed being a Girl Scout for 10 years and made a kill from selling cookies! She graduated with honors from Chenango Valley High School. After graduating from SUNY Cortland magna cum laude, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Binghamton City School District. A vibrant, intelligent, comical young woman, with an infectious laugh and amazing eyes, Jane loved school, music, concerts, and traveling. She visited Europe three times in her short life and went cross country during the "Summer of Jane", as her Dad affectionately called it. She will be heartily missed by many friends and family who loved her more than she could ever know.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church on the corner of Robinson and Chenango Streets in Binghamton, on Thursday, August 26th at 10:00 a.m. The family will received friends at the Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements are by the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St., Binghamton.
As Jane did, please consider becoming an organ donor or make a contribution to a charity of your choice in her memory. Thank you.

I had the pleasure of going to both high school and college with Jane. While we didn't really know each other well at CV, we spent a lot of time together at Cortland since we were both English majors. I'll never forget one class in which everyone had to write a personal memoir about some sort of major experience in our lives. Jane's story about how she turned her life around after a bad relationship is something I'll never forget. What an awful loss this is. She is honestly one of the sweetest, easily likable people I've ever known. Spending time with people like Jane is a big reason why I was so happy being at Cortland. My thoughts are with her whole family. Jane, I miss you bud.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Jane. She was a wonderful spirit and will be missed by all who knew her. I went to school and graduated with Jane from CV in 2000 and we used to be friends. Every Tuesday night for awhile in Middle school Jane and I used to go to Skate Estate and hang out. I'm not sure why our friendship did not make it through highschool I guess we just went down different paths. I will always remember her for the good times we had and what a wonderful person she was. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

I'm really saddened to hear about this happening to one of my classmates from CV, Jane Lacy. I remember in elementary school once the teacher of our class asked if anyone had an immigrant parent and only Jane and I raised our hands; she had one from Ireland and I have one from Hungary. We were always in the same homeroom in high school but I was kinda shy back then so I didn't know many people that well but she did seem like a nice person. I don't really know what to say but I offer my best condolences to her family and I am really saddened this happened to her at such a young age.

Jane was the first person to say "hi" to me in kindergarten, breaking the awkward silence immediately.. always the first person to make sure nobody was left out, the first person to greet a new person that came into our classes at Chenango Valley, making sure that you always had a friend.
She was very true to herself. She was always smiling. Even after not seeing her for a few years after high school and bumping into her in the mall she had a smile that put a smile on your face.
Always happy, always full of energy, it was infectious..
To Jane's Family, Jane had a great impact on a lot of peoples lives, she will be missed but never forgotten. My prayers go out to you and the rest of your family.
Take it easy Jane, I know your making everyone smile up in Heaven.

Jane was a very selfless person and though I wasnt a student of hers at school, I was a student of hers in life and I believe if we were all a bit more like Jane in life, the world would be a kinder, softer place. Jane, I know your dancing in heaven.

I am a friend of Jane's and we went through some very hard times together. She had considerable impact on my life and part of the reason I am where I am today is because of her. I often wondered if I would see her again, and am saddened to know now that I will not. Keep hope in your hearts and treasure your memories of her- as I will. She is a beautiful soul.

Mr. and Mrs. Lacy,

I am so deeply saddened by the news of Jane's passing. She and I shared countless memories and I have always loved her like a sister. It is nearly impossible for me to recall a memory from growing up without Jane being a part of it in some way. To say this is a loss is an understatement, and my heart is broken for you both. She will be missed more than you know by more people than you realize. Please let me know if there is anything I can do, your family is in my thoughts.
