Candor, New York: Alfred L. Hinchcliffe, 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Mr. Hinchcliffe was predeceased by two wives, MaryAnn "Pat" Hinchcliffe and Mary C. Hinchcliffe. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Molly Hinchcliffe; daughter, Barbara Jacobs; grandchildren, Melinda (Tim) Augustine, Jessica (Justin) Anderson, Kristy (Brian) Botsford and Colleen, Christine and Theresa Alexander, also eight great grandchildren. Mr. Hinchcliffe was a lifelong resident of Tioga County. He Retired from NYSEG after 35 years as a lineman. Al also held a rank of Major with 26 years of National Guard service. Al was very community minded. He was the Past Exalted Ruler of BPOE Elks Lodge #1039, life member of Croton Hose #3, member of the Owego Moose Lodge #1595 and the Candor American Legion Post # 903. Al loved the outdoors with over 40 years as an avid camper and enjoyed a good campfire with friends and family, hunting and fishing. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY with the Rev. Alan Jagger, officiating. Burial will follow in the Tioga Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
