Friar Raynald Yudin, OFM Conv., died peacefully at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY on December 10, 2013 after a long illness. Born in Binghamton, NY, he was the son of the late John and Frances (Kiley) Yudin. Fr. Raynald was professed as a Conventual Franciscan Friar on August 15, 1956 in Middleburgh, NY. He made his solemn profession of vows on September 26, 1959 in Rensselaer, NY and was ordained to the priesthood on May 26, 1962 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Albany, NY. Fr. Raynald spent his Franciscan priestly years as a teacher and as a Pastor at a number of churches throughout the Northeast. In addition to his parents, Fr. Raynald was predeceased by his niece, Maureen Crounse. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Helen); his sisters, Nancy Yudin Crounse, Johann Roberts, and Judy (Marv) Frey; as well as his uncle, Joseph Yudin; aunt, Colette Grace; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Church, 401 N. Main St., Minoa, NY, on Sunday, December 15th, 2 to 6 p.m., with a Franciscan Vigil Service celebrated at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's on Monday, December 16th, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Friars' Plot in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Donations in memory of Fr. Raynald may be made to the Franciscan Friars' Retirement Fund, P.O. Box 629, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
