Shane M. O'Neill, 29, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2016 after a brief illness. He was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by his grandparents and his cousin Nickolas. He is survived by his loving and supportive parents Karl and Cindy (Jayne) O'Neill; brother and best friend Steven; grandfather Lewis Jayne (Barb Button); aunts and uncles Brenda (Mark) Harrington, Joseph Jayne, Dan O'Neill (Paul), Colleen (Michael) Clarke, James O'Neill (Moria), Tim (Beth) O'Neill, Robert O'Neill, Mary Alice (Roger) Mason, Linda O'Neill; cousins Heather, Daniel, Brian, Trisha, Tommy, Katie, Meaghan, Sean, Seamus, Jimmy, Amy, Molly, Joe, Allison and James; special friends Gunner MacBlane, Steve Ronald, Jonathan Davis and Ben Bachman. Shane was a remarkable man. Despite a tragic childhood accident that left him paralyzed he never once looked back and fought through many challenges. He graduated from Windsor High School in 2004, received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University. That lead him to begin a career at Pride Mobility in Exeter, PA as a design engineer helping to make wheelchairs more adaptive to today's challenges. Some of Shane's simple pleasures were sitting in the sun, his Friday night card games, grabbing a drink with his buddies and loving his mother's cooking. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, making trips to Notre Dame Stadium. He gave the ultimate gift of life as an organ donor, he was always looking to help others. The family will receive friends on April 15, 2016 from 4 to 7pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. ,137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 9am at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made to the Humane Society of Binghamton or STIC of Binghamton.
