Donna Anne Rumfelt Watts Young
Donna Anne Rumfelt Watts Young, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on February 15, 2019, in San Luis Obispo, California. She was 85 years old.
Donna was born on March 19, 1933, in Cabool, Missouri, to Edeth Faye (neé Frisbee) and Guy Newton Rumfelt. The family settled in Bakersfield, California, where Donna attended East Bakersfield High School (Class of '51). She met Donald Lee Watts while singing in a church choir and they married in 1956. Over the next 14 years, they had four daughters and lived in Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes and Irvine. The family later moved north to Healdsburg, where they purchased a small parcel of land in the Dry Creek Valley. The two separated in 1976 and divorced in 1985; Donald passed away later that year.
Donna went on to earn a degree in nursing from Santa Rosa Junior College. In 1992, she married Robert Ashley Young and resided with him among the picturesque vineyards of Alexander Valley. Her interests included gardening, travel and bible study. She had a strong faith in God and was a congregant at Healdsburg Community Church and Alexander Valley Community Church. Following Robert's death in 2009, Donna relocated to Ventura.
Donna is survived by her four daughters: Elizabeth Rabin (Jack) of San Luis Obispo, California; Barbara Clarin (Mitch) of Flemington, New Jersey; Linda Watts-Silva (Guillermo) of Ventura, California; and Carolyn Watts of Millville, New Jersey. Her seven grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, also survive her, along with Robert's children and grandchildren.
Donations in Donna's memory may be made to The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, The Dementia Society of America, and the . Donna's ashes will be interred at the Oak Mound Cemetery in Healdsburg, Friday, March 1, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.
