Kim Eric McFarland ("Duke"), 69, of Santa Rosa, CA passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2021.
Kim was born September 22, 1951 in Berkeley, CA to Walter Edward and Yola June McFarland.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War as a paratrooper in the 173rd airborne ranger unit (1970-1972) and became a Purple Heart recipient. He received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service while assigned to Company E, 3rd U.S. Infantry Honor Guard "The Old Guard" and served four years (1973-1977) as a staff sergeant under Nixon, Ford, and Carter.
He earned his Associates degree in Science from Santa Rosa Junior College as well as an electronics degree. Kim began his dedicated career of 36 years at PG&E as a Lineman, in various capacities, serving different areas of Northern California.
During Kim's free time, he loved to ride and work on motorcycles and cars. He spent time with his wife Marcia and became a 33rd degree Mason of Santa Rosa Luther Burbank Lodge No. 57 and a member of the Rose Valley Eastern Star No. 33. He was a very generous caring person who always let you know exactly what he was thinking.
He is survived by his wife Marcia McFarland of Santa Rosa, CA. Children Carrie McFarland of Santa Rosa, Sean and Jamie McFarland of Santa Rosa, Chris Reed of Corning, step-children RJ and Megan Natal of Martinez and Cherie and Mark Rydman of Long Beach, seven grandchildren (Cienna, Rylee, June, Kaylee, Cole, Grace, and Jacob), his sisters Kathy Fong and Kelley McFarland of Mariposa, multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and his sweet dog Bella.
