Paul Lucas HAMILTON

HAMILTON, Paul Lucas 95 years old, passed away peacefully in his home with his family at his side on January 28, 2015. Paul was born in Moscow, Idaho on May 31, 1919. His family migrated to Burbank, California when Paul was young. Paul attended and graduated from the Art Center in Southern California with a degree in Architectural Design. After graduation, Paul relocated to Orinda, California where he established a very successful home design and building company. It was in Orinda that he met and married his first love Rita Stone. Soon after came their first child, Guy. Paul moved the family to Sonoma County in 1958 where they had purchased a parcel of land on the top of Sonoma Mountain. In 1960 Rita gave birth to their second child, Deirdre. Paul designed and built a home on the top of that mountain where they raised their children. Rita passed away in 1983 and after five years Paul met and married his second love, Betty. With this union Paul gained his third child, stepdaughter Terryle. Betty and Paul shared many years together both in Santa Rosa and in Todos Santos, Mexico where they built a vacation home. Paul was a well-known and respected Architect in Sonoma County and California, designing and building over 50 residences, two of which were used in well-known movies such as the Bodyguard. Paul also designed and built several commercial buildings including the beautiful Matanzas Creek Winery building. Paul admired and studied the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright which are reflected in many of his buildings. A man ahead of his time, Paul was an independent thinker and a renaissance man. He loved his home and spend hours in his extensive garden or sitting by the fire reading a book or watching television. Dearly loved by his family and long-time close friends, Paul is survived by his wife, three children, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous other relatives.
