Peter Marshall FITZGERALD

Peter Marshall Fitzgerald passed away peacefully in his Petaluma home on February 18, 2013. He was surrounded by those he loved and those who loved him. He would have been 80 years old in May. Peter Marshall was born in Spokane, WA, raised in Seattle, and relocated to the Bay Area where he received a PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He began his career as an engineer and later became an early entrepreneur in the Silicon Valley, becoming co-founder and president of Stanford Telecommunications, Inc. Marshall left Silicon Valley for Sonoma County where he pursued teaching and lecturing internationally. He was one of the founders of the Estonian Business School. Marshall was a self made man in every sense of the word, driven, hardworking and successful. Marshall had a generous and kind heart that touched many, but his family was his priority. His unconditional love and support of family was a value he placed above all else, a value that has been and will be passed to future generations. Marshall was a man rarely comfortable with mediocrity, always pushing himself and those around him to a higher level. His children, his grandchildren and friends will always remember these traits and will miss him dearly. Marshall is survived by his wife Pat, his former wife Claire, his sister Louise, five children, eleven grandchildren, three stepchildren and four step grandchildren. Working on his various house projects, hiking, reading, skiing, playing bridge were among his hobbies. Sailing with his sons in the San Francisco Bay and being in the San Juan Islands with his wife were among his greatest pleasures. A memorial service will be held at the Petaluma Sheraton Hotel on March 2, 2013. 2-5:00 p.m.
