Molly Donovan Obituary

Born March 15, 1988 and unexpectedly left us on August 3, 2009 after spending a weekend enjoying what she truly loved - good friends, music, and nature. Molly was the 'twinkle' in her father's eye, the love that filled her mother's heart and a cherished sister to her brother, Daniel. Fearless from the moment she could walk, Molly was athletic and spent much of her time outdoors. She had become an avid snowboarder and hiker, and so her job at Kirkwood in South Lake Tahoe was perfect for her. Molly also loved to play her guitar and was never without a book at her side. Molly's memory will live on through the lives she touched in her family, her Preschool and Dunbar pals, her passionate and competitive soccer teammates, and those she met along the way through her high school and college years. Although Molly has left us too soon, her contagious laugh, bright smile and warm heart remain with us. Her adventurous spirit will not be forgotten. She will be fondly remembered for her calm and lovable character, which no one could resist. Molly is survived by her mother, Carol, brother, Dan, countless uncles, aunts and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Joe. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Molly's life on Saturday, August 8th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at a private residence. Park at Flowery Elementary School's parking lot where a shuttle will be provided. (To get to Flowery School, turn onto Depot Rd., at the Mountain Avenue stop light on Hwy 12 in Agua Caliente.) Arrangements in the care of ADOBE CREEK FUNERAL HOME, 331 Lakeville St., Petaluma, CA 94952. Donations may be made in Molly Donovan's name to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospice or Willmar Center for Bereaved Children CHEDA-LYONS.COM 707-789-9000

Dear Carol and Dan,
It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since Molly flew away to be with her Dad. I know you are acutely aware that she will always be with you as evidenced by your memories. Although your pain will never end, it will become more comfortable to live with as time goes on. We love you both and continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Molly,
Although we've never met, I feel I know you. From the day your mom and I first bicycled together, she has talked, with such great love, about you and Dan and your activities. This doesn't usually happen with the women (moms, too) I cycle with, so it made a big impact.
You have such a wonderful family and so many friends who will always love you. It's been a pleasure to get to know you through them. Peace and Joy, Beth A.

One of the greatest comforts of going home is knowing you will always find a familiar face around the neighborhood. Molly was a familiar face that I remember seeing at the park, at track and soccer practice, and hanging out with my sister and Roshene. The loss of a friend and a neighbor will forever change our town and our neighborhood. I am so sorry that her youth was stolen from her so abruptly. May she rest in peace and know that her memory will not be forgotten by her friends and neighbors.

August 14, 2009

Dear Carol,

One memory I have of Molly is when she was playing soccer. Joe brought her over to play in Petaluma and Clare & I went to see her play. Man, she was something! I can still see her barreling down the field, so strong and fast that I was glad I wasn't out there. She would've mowed me down!

I always loved to get her to laugh. She'd have on her serious, quiet face which was always an invitation to me to get her to crack up - which she always would...either I was as funny as I thought I was or she was just being polite to her Uncle. I prefer to think it's the former.

I can still see her laughing

Love, Peter

Dear Aunt Carol and Dan,

August 12, 2009

There is a quote that says, "Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy". The other night Rashell and I were outside and we saw a shooting star; I believe Molly was waving at us to say, "hi", and to show us that she will never truly be lost. Even though I will never be able to hear her laugh or see her beautiful blue eyes again it brings me comfort that from time to time I can say hello. I will forever gaze the night sky looking for the wave from my old friend.

They say, "no man is the whole himself. His friends are the rest of him." I must agree because I feel like part of me has died along with Molly; like there is this empty hole were I have kept her my hole life. My goal over time though is to refill the hole with all the memories I have of her, and to rekindle her soul and spirit in my heart. My heart being the place were she will forever be held and treasured, because when a friend becomes a memory the memory become a treasure. I love you, and will never forget you Molly.
Your loving friend,
Katelynn Jean

Dear Carol and Dan,
I can't tell you how sad I am to learn about Molly's passing.
In my mind, she is forever the adorable and fearless little girl who had no trouble keeping up with Dan & the other cub scouts on outtings & camp outs. Her sweet smile & self assurance made a lasting impression on me, and so many others.
So very sorry for your tremendous loss. You are both in my thoughts.

August 10, 2009

Dear Carol & Dan,
Molly brought such joy to my life. Her rosy lips, adorable smile, big blue eyes and beautiful blond hair. She was precious, sweet, and kind to all of her friends. She was so observant, curious and never afraid to dive in and explore the world around her. We played, created, imagined, danced, sang and cuddled while reading a silly story. My time with Molly will always remain close to my heart. She truly enriched my life, and I will forever be grateful for the time I spent with her. My girls had the privilege of growing up as her neighbor, school mate and friend. We loved our Molly-Ba-Golly and want you to know how much she meant to us. Please know that we are here for you; our thoughts and love are with you always.

We have been reflecting for days on what to say. We think of Molly every day and mourn over the loss of her. She was such a caring and sweet person. One memory brings us to Sarah's 3rd birthday party at Aunt Jane's and Uncle Ed's house. Molly was celebrating with us and she had gone out and bought Sarah a present. We were so touched by Molly's thoughtfulness for her little cousin. Sarah still loves those beach toys. We pray for you, Carol and Dan, that God will keep you through this tragedy.

Although she has gone to be with her Dad, she will remain here with us, in our hearts, because the connected spirit cannot be broken.

What a beautiful young woman Molly turned out to be. She found great joy in life and I dare say she's found much greater things on the other side than we could ever imagine.

Hearts are broken and grief is paramount for those left behind, but we know you are completed in His care.
