James Michael Bellino

BELLINO, James Michael Passed away in Novato, November 14, 2004. Jim is survived by his children Kim Mengarelli of Novato, and Todd Bellino of Sacramento, sister Jenny Holmgren, brother-in-law Tom of Conn. and sister-in-law Lee Bellino, Eugene, OR. Loving grandfather of Ally and Nicolas Mengarelli, Westley Braswell and Francis Bellino. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Born in New London, Conn, in 1923,  Jim joined the Navy and served in World War II in the Pacific. Settled in Sausalito, attended art school and became a commercial artist for BBD&O. Jim owned  the Fireside in Mill Valley, also bartended for the Tiburon Lodge, The Hilltop, LaPetite Auberge, and LaToscana Ristorante. On April 12, 1960, Jim had the distinction along with Bill Leiser, Chronicle Sports writer, and Paul Smith of Mill Valley to be the first of three seaplanes to glide into Candlestick Park on the opening day to attend the Giants game. Jim enjoyed landscape painting and golf (honored with a hole-in-one) and was a former President of the Sausalito Lions Club. No formal services will be held at his request. A private commitment service will be held by his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity.
