Rose Gaal Obituary
ROSE GAAL August 16, 1921 - April 27, 2017 We sadly announce the passing of our beloved Rose. She was born in Kano, Hungary to Pauline and Paul Domonkos and was the eldest of six children. The family immigrated to Canada in 1929, settling first in Houston and then Willow River. She married Andrew Gaal in 1937 and they resided in Willow River, and later in Aleza Lake. Four children were born from their union: Louis, Andy, Michael, and Rosanne. In 1960 the Gaals finally made the big move to Prince George. Family and friends much appreciated Rose's practical wisdom, quick sense of humour, and Hungarian cuisine. Some of her hobbies were gardening, knitting, and crocheting. She returned twice to her birthplace in Hungary, enjoyed seniors bus trips to various destinations, and family visits to Calgary. In her later years she loved to socialize and participate in activities at Asher Place. Rose was an amazing role model with a heart of gold. She was a devoted mother, and was supportive daily in her daughter's devastating battle with MS. It was ironic that Rose ended her days in the same room at Jubilee that her daughter had been in many years before. She enjoyed numerous visits with family and friends, and loved having a private phone in Jubilee to stay in contact with people. Rose was predeceased by her husband Andrew, daughter Rosanne, siblings: Julia, Barney, Billy and grandson Joey. She is survived by her sister Olga and brother Paul, sons Louis (Katie), Andy (Marie), Michael (Marlene), son-in-law David (Wendy) Wlasitz, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Our family is deeply thankful to Dr. Raymond and the staff at Jubilee Lodge for their exceptional care of Rose. No service by request. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the MS Society of Canada or the Prince George Hospice Society.
