Victor Pankew Obituary

PANKEW, Victor Roy July 22, 1936 - June 12, 2009 It is with great sorrow the Pankew family announces the passing of Victor Roy Pankew, after a brief, yet valiant battle with cancer at the age of 72. He made the heavenly journey home to be with his loving wife Violet Mary Pankew, father Jacob Pankew and his mother Annie Pankew. Vic is survived by his sons Robert and Brian Pankew as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Victor enjoyed the simple life on the farm. Being a talented millwright, he could make any thought or drawing a reality. He was also a gifted wood artist and could be seen at home carving intricate pieces out of what looked like nothing. But there was nothing that he loved more than his family. "We've had our share of downfalls and triumphs Dad, but you don't have to worry anymore. Go and be with Mother, she's waiting for you." Prayer service for Victor to be held Wednesday, June 17 at 7:00pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Funeral mass will by Thursday, June 18 at 10:00am also at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 887 Patricia Blvd. Prince George, BC. Interment to follow at Prince George Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, #300-500 Victoria Street, Prince George, BC, V2L 2J9

Hi Robert and Brian:

It was only 3 weeks ago that I had seen your dad. (I wanted to tell him that John and I were leaving for AB). How sad I was to learn of his illness.

We have passed your family home daily over the past 27 years. He was one of the first persons we met when we came to the area. I have always admired his many talents, intelligence, and caring ways.

Whenever I met your mom or dad I asked of you two and what you both were doing. I haven't forgotten you from Blackburn Jr. High!

We send our condolences and sympathy to you both in losing both of your parents so close together. Wishing you both well in the future.

Sincerely,
Ms. (Faye) Hallett and John Vlchek, now of Red Deer AB
