Charles V. Carelock, 87, formerly of Prince George, Va., died Feb. 4, 2012, while residing at The Dunlop House in Colonial Heights, Va. He was the son of the late James H. and Mattie Belle Carelock and stepson of the late Allen R. Redd. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Hilda Hazelwood, and two brothers, James A. Carelock and Harold Carelock.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne H. Carelock; one daughter, Jennifer C. Webster and husband, Robert, of Prince George, Va.; one granddaughter, Anne-Walker W. Temple, husband, Erik, and great-grandson, Webster R. Templeton of Cashiers, N.C.; one grandson, Bolton J. Webster of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Evelyn C. Harrison of Midlothian, Va.; one brother, Robert H. Carelock and his wife, Elaine of Peachtree City, Ga.; and one sister-in-law, Myrtle Carelock of Pinehurst, N.C.
He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and then Second Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the
University of Richmond. Mr. Carelock served in the
Army in
World War II.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 11, 2012, at Second Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. A private interment will take place at Southlawn Cemetery.
Donations may be made to Second Baptist Church, Crater Hospice or the Animal Shelter in Petersburg.
