Santos, Eva Marie "McClellan"
January 25, 1932 - December 28, 2020
Eva Marie "McClellan" Santos, 88, suddenly passed away on December 28, 2020 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born in Providence of Cape Verdean descent, she was the daughter of the late Joaquin and Mary (Jose) Santos of Providence. Eva was very active in her community serving on many boards including the John Hope Settlement House, the Providence Corporation and the Cape Verdean Progressive Club. Also, Editor in Chief of the Providence American newspaper, and was awarded the RI Senior of the year award. She is survived by 3 sisters, her five children: Frederick McClellan of Augusta, Georgia; Lillian McClellan of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Diane (McClellan) Umana of Dallas, Texas; Gail McClellan of Germantown, Maryland; and Ralph Johnston of Charlotte, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Eva was directly cremated upon her wishes courtesy of Richmond Funeral Home & Cremation Service and no services to be held.
