Robert V. Proulx Obituary
age 72, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, after a long battle with ALS. He was the beloved husband of Gail L. (Peterson) Proulx.
Born in Norton, VA, he was the son of the late Robert V. Proulx and Dorothy (Hayes) Martin. For 36 years, he was employed by the State of Rhode Island as a Mason, until his retirement in 2016. Prior to his illness, Bob was an avid runner and could often be found working out at the YMCA. As a dedicated volunteer Mentor for 21 years, Bob fostered a relationship with his Mentee where he became more like family. A lover of animals, he adored his three dogs: Casey, Cali, and Alli.
Aside from his wife, he is survived by his son: David Proulx (wife Deborah), daughter: Deborah Brennan (husband Greg); and three siblings: Raymond Proulx, Janice Manosh, and Richard Proulx. Known as "Poppa," he is also survived by three grandchildren: Hannah, Drew, and Aidan.
Visitation will be Friday, September 14, 2018 from 4-7 pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 249 Danielson Pike, North Scituate. Family and friends are invited to go directly to church. Burial will be private.
