BOWE, JR. , PHILIP P. "PAULIE"
81, of Warwick died peacefully at home Friday surrounded by his loving family.
Born in his beloved Wanskuck section of Providence, a son of the late Philip P. and Mae C. (Durkin) Bowe, he had been a Warwick resident since 1978 and was an US Army veteran. Paulie worked for Narragansett Electric Company for 43 years before retiring in 1997 as Crew Leader. He was a member of Local 310 of the Brotherhood of Utility Workers, serving as President, and also the Steward for many years for Roster 1. He also served as the Executive Vice President of the BUW Council. During his tenure as Crew Leader, he trained and mentored numerous apprentice linemen, a venture that was dear to his heart. He was known to many of his younger co-workers as "Coach", a name that was given to him by Raymond Turner, who was like a third son to him. He was a proud man who loved his job and the men and women he worked with. But most importantly, he loved his family. Anyone who ever met Paulie would never forget him. Whether you were on the golf course, or sitting with him at one of his favorite spots, he made you feel special and always made you laugh. He loved his Boston teams, but the Red Sox were his true love. He loved listening to Irish music on Sunday afternoons. He also loved politics, told the best stories, and always fought for the underdog. All who knew him will miss him dearly.
He leaves behind Patricia A. Bowe, the mother of his five children; three daughters, Patricia A. Turner and her husband Raymond of Warwick, Mary C. DiMuccio and her husband, Michael of North Providence; Sheila J. Lancellotta and her husband, Donald of West Warwick; two sons, Paul M. Bowe and his wife, Kelli of Warwick and Philip E. Bowe and his wife, Cindy of North Kingstown. Ten Grandchildren: Christopher, Alexandra and Nathan Bowe, Philip, Isabel, and Teagan Bowe, Patricia and Molly Turner, and Michael and Jacquelynn DiMuccio. He was the brother of Maureen U. Plaisted of Providence and the late John R. Bowe.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Clement Church, located on 111 Long Street, Warwick, RI on Tuesday, April 11 at 10 am. Calling Hours Monday, April 10 from 4-8 pm in the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, located on 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
