Frances Dias Obituary

Dias, Frances E.
92. Our mother, sister, and nana, born on August 1, 1928 passed away on February 24, 2021 at her home in Tiverton. Born and raised in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Mary Ellen (Fitzgerald) Coelho. She was preceded in death by her husband Ferdinand Dias, her son David Dias, and her brother, Joseph D. Coelho, Jr. She will be remembered and forever in the hearts of her sister, Joan Crawford of Nevada, her children: Michael Dias and his companion Melanie of Nevada, Gerald Dias and his wife Lisa of Rehoboth, John Dias and his wife Laurie of Riverside, and Mariellen Cabral and her husband Ron of Florida. Frances, lovingly known as Nana, was blessed, and adored by her eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Fran loved the Church, and St. Martha's became like a second home to her. Not only was she a communicant and member of the Rosary & Altar Society, but she was the bookkeeper at St. Martha's for many years before she retired. Besides the gift of family that she so passionately loved, she was a strong adventurer who enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:00 AM in St. Martha's Church, 2595 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Virtual viewing can be found at https://vimeo.com/event/747803 Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider contributions to the Lions Club, PO Box 633, Rehoboth, MA 02769. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-7 in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue. The guidelines set forth by the Health Department will be observed. Face coverings are required and only 15 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time.

To all the Dias Family,
We have all lost a solid figure in the meaning of Family! Everything she said and did was of and for Family. I will miss all the conversations and visits we had together in RI, NY and FL. Exchanging family stories and photos. There was never a time we didn't have a laugh! I will see you again and we will see what else we can reminisce about. There was always time for a story.

I miss you my Aunt and Godmother. We all do! But we also know that you are visiting Family still!

Dearest Dias family (my cousins, my family):

My deepest sympathy and condolences on this loss of our loved one; rely on your family and other's that are close to in the time of need for our fractured hearts to heal - "God is near to us to give the strength to move forward in hope".

Aunt Fran will be sorely missed by all that her life has encountered; her love and laughter will be a legacy of remembrance.

Mrs. D was like a second Mom to me growing up. Always welcoming me in, always wanting to know what was going on in my life, and always offering advice and counsel when things weren't so great.
Gerry, my best friend, and Lisa, his wife, will always remain in my most pleasant memories of growing up in E.P.
Mrs. D will forever be missed but, also, forever remembered as a role model and mentor. She kinda made you think about making the correct decisions. As Gerry will attest, she always wanted to have her windows clean so she could look out into the world to see what was good.
I will miss you.
