Kenneth G. Richards Kenneth George "K.G." Richards, 92, of 115 North Third Street, McConnellsburg, Pa., passed away peacefully on April 10, 2014 at the Fulton County Medical Center. Born June 22, 1921 in McConnellsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Bessie Richards. He was married to Pauline Grissinger Richards on June 3, 1945. At the age of four, his family moved to the farm still occupied by the Richards' heirs north of McConnellsburg. Upon graduating from McConnellsburg High School in 1940, he purchased his first truck, which began his career in the trucking business. He was the founder and Chairman of the Board for Richards Auto Sales, Inc., and President of KGR Mining. He spent his entire adult life as a self-employed businessman involved in lumbering, road building, bridge building, coal stripping and hauling, and milk transportation in addition to other enterprises. K.G. was a Charter Member of Mt. Zion Lodge 774, Scottish Rites of Harrisburg, Jaffa Temple of Altoona, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and BPOE Elks of Chambersburg. He previously served as President of the McConnellsburg Lions Club and was a lifetime member of the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company. K.G. served on the Central Fulton School Board as President and was a member for twenty-seven years. He was awarded the Fulton Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1985. K.G. was an avid golfer where he played in the Thursday afternoon men's league at the Great Cove Golf Course with his partner and life-long friend, Bob Snyder. He was a founding member of the Fulton County Industrial Development Authority. K.G. also served on the Fulton County National Bank Board of Directors and was a member of the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. K.G. loved the outdoors, spending his time as a member of the Old Timer's Hunting and Loafing Club and his fishing trips to Chincoteague. One of his proudest achievements was building of the Meadow Grounds Lake and Valley High Borough Lake. K.G. enjoyed spending time with his family, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him happiness. He also had a great love for his canine family. Often you would see he and Muggs on their way to the Chrysler dealership in the morning. In addition to his wife Polly, K. G. is survived by one son: Dennis G. (husband of Nancy); two daughters Leanne Pollock (wife of Denny); Pamela Ott (wife of John); all of McConnellsburg, and one brother, Robert. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Dr. Kristy Richards, Kendra Fielding(wife of Jason); Nicole Fletcher(wife of Jeremy); Kevin Richards(husband of Rachel); Dane Pollock, Jordan Ott(husband of Jordan); Dr. Emile Olsen(wife of Aaron); Jesse Richards, Shane Richards and four great-grandchildren, Jayden and Macey Fielding and Jeron and Jace Fletcher. A son, Kenneth M. "Kenny", preceded him in death as well as two brothers, Harvey and Harold "Tom" Richards. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday April 13 at the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Monday April 14 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Godissart and Rev. Donald Bard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the New Building Fund at the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church or the Lions Club.
