Catherine V. Fahrney
Mrs. Catherine V. (Toms) Fahrney, 92, a resident of Providence Place, Chambersburg and formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday morning, December 14, 2017, in the assisted living center. Born June 29, 1925 in Washington Township, she was the daughter of the late Roy R. and Etta E. (Oberholzer) Toms.
Mrs. Toms graduated from Washington Township High School with the Class of 1943.
She and her husband of over 72 years, Charles A. Fahrney, were married on May 3, 1945.
Mrs. Fahrney was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was an avid golfer.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by one grandson, Michael Fahrney of Chicago, IL; four sisters, Marie Wishard of Chambersburg, Gladys Toms of Chambersburg, Mary Hissong of St. Thomas, and Martha Barnhart of Chambersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Fahrney; four sisters, Hazel Daugherty, Ruth Ressler, Janet Decker, and Isabel Henicle; and six brothers, Paul Toms, Richard Toms, Ray Toms, Charles Toms, Russell Toms, and Howard Toms.
Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, December 16, 2017, in Antietam Cemetery, Wayne Highway, Waynesboro, with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. There will be no public viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Wounded Warrior Project at
