Gettysburg - Norman J. Grove, age 85 of Gettysburg, formerly of Chambersburg, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his home, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born Saturday, May 27, 1933 in Trenton, NJ, the son of the late John R. and Bessie C. (Pullen) Grove.

Norman graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1951. He owned and operated Grove Brothers Lumber, Inc. in Chambersburg for 36 years. He enjoyed a long, active retirement, from 1992 to the present. Norman was a life member of the VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #600 in Chambersburg. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Rehoboth Beach, DE and Moose Lodge # 482 in Chambersburg.

Norm loved boating, salt water fishing and hunting. He was a woodworking hobbyist, and he enjoyed listening to live music played by his son and grandsons on the back porch. He looked forward to daily visits by his daughter and frequent weekend barbecues. Norm was loved and respected by his family for his wry sense of humor and his steadfast wisdom and guidance.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marcia (Hoover) Grove. He is also survived by one daughter, Daria D. Grove and companion John Becker of Gettysburg, one son, Dirk D. and wife Pamela Grove of Herndon, VA, two grandsons, Tyler D. Grove of Silver Spring, MD and Cale G. Grove of Pittsburgh, PA, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, A. Jean Burkholder of Reading, Gloria Brown of Chambersburg, and two brothers, John D. Grove of Chambersburg and Dennis N. Grove of Houston, TX. Norm was predeceased by a sister, Carol, of Atlanta, GA.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 51 Asper Dr., Shippensburg with Rev. Dale Williams officiating. Interment will be in Norland Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:30AM until time of services.
