Wanda Wilson Obituary
Wanda R. Wilson
Wanda R. Wilson, 92, a long-time resident of Fayetteville, died early Monday the 30th of October at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born in 1925 in Jenks, OK, Wanda was raised with her seven sisters and brothers in Hobbs, NM. She married her high school sweetheart, Andrew Y. Wilson, after graduation, and then waited for his return from WWII. She traveled with him to Europe after his service, where they raised their two daughters. On her return to the U.S. and the Washington, D.C. area, she cared for her family and enjoyed her numerous creative pursuits. She was a talented pianist and seamstress, was accomplished at needlepoint, and was active in volunteer work. She and Andy traveled widely after his retirement. She enjoyed visiting her family out West, and her friends, children and grandchildren on the East coast. She had a winning smile and a Western accent that remained strong decades after leaving "home".
Her beloved husband of 66 years, Andrew, preceded her in death on October 3, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Rose Ann and Gene Davis, and Kay and William McAmis; her grandchildren, Jennifer Davis and Rebecca and Dave Raupach; and her great-grandchildren, Tommy, Gabriel and Bodie. She also leaves her good friend and caregiver, Virginia Miley, who has become an adoptive daughter and sister to the family. Wanda brought happiness, warmth and humor to their lives, and she is sorely missed.
The Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.
