Thelma Patricia "Patsy" Souders

Thelma Patricia "Patsy" Souders, 73, of Wells Valley Road, Wells Tannery, PA died Monday afternoon, December 13, 2010 at her home.

Born May 25, 1937 in Wells Township, Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late DeKalb and Evaline (Anderson) Metzler. She was married to Carl F. "Short" Souders on December 28, 1954. Mr. Souders preceded in death on November 11, 2004.

Mrs. Souders is survived by two sons and three daughters: C. Duane Souders, husband of Nancy of Wells Tannery; Shirley Hall and companion Joe Bulger of Wells Tannery; Joan Johnston, wife of James Johnston of McConnellsburg, PA;
R. James Souders, husband of Rochelle of Wells Tannery and Connie Barnett, wife of Roy of Wells Tannery. There are 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her companion, Ronald Foreman of Broad Top, PA and a former son-in law, Ted Hall of McConnellsburg, PA.

A sister, Hilda Mellott survives of Three Springs, PA. One bother, Wilda Metzler and a grandson Hobie Gordon are deceased.

Mrs. Souders was of the Methodist Faith.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she worked outside the home as a seamstress and as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn in Breezewood, PA. She served as tax collector for Well Township for several years until her retirement.

Mrs. Souders loved her animals and was an avid bird watcher. She especially enjoyed cardinals and had an extensive collection of cardinal pictures, figurines and such.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the
M. R. Brown Funeral Home, 301 Pitt Street, Hustontown, PA. Interment will be made in Wells Valley Methodist Cemetery, Wells Tannery, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-9:00 PM on Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 7-9:00 PM. Pastor Mike Purnell will officiate. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
