Charmaine C. Alexander Obituary
Mrs. Charmaine C. Alexander, 84, of Mercersburg, PA passed away November 7, 2012 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 26, 1927 in Uniontown, PA, she was a daughter of the late William R. Sr. and Maude Jeffries Crago. Mrs. Alexander was a 1945 graduate of Uniontown High School. She married Jack W. Alexander, her husband of almost 62 years, on February 23, 1951. Prior to starting a family she was employed as a secretary for the S. E. Williams Supply Company in Uniontown. Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Upper West Concocheague in Mercersburg as well as its Women's Association. She was also a member of the Fulton County Chapter 519 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Mercersburg Lioness Club and had been a volunteer at the Chambersburg Hospital. Charmaine's greatest joy was her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her laughter and sense of humor will be greatly missed but is a source of treasured memories and smiles to her loved ones. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; Mark W. and wife Linda Alexander of Salisbury, NC, Gary W. Alexander of Chambersburg, and Kimberly A. and husband Allen Dixon of Hickory, NC. Grandchildren, Michael C. Alexander of Salisbury, Madalyn R. Alexander of Seattle, WA, Sean M. Bolick of Hickory, Lauren F. Alexander of Durham, NC and Julie Odem-Dixon of Guyton, GA. A sister, Betty Blackburn of Mechanicsburg, PA and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Crago, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday November 12th at the Presbyterian Church with Reverend Anthony Lorenz officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church, 34 W. Seminary St., Mercersburg, PA 17236 or , Franklin/ Fulton Division, 417A Phoenix Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., Mercersburg.
