Fort Loudon - Percy W. "Bill" Hays, 89, Fort Loudon, PA died May 23, 2021 at Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA.

Born February 18, 1932, in Mercersburg, PA, he was a son of the late Percy A. and Helen (Suders) Hays.

Bill attended grade school in Cove Gap and graduated in 1950 from Lemasters High School. He married Anna Maye (Clark) Hays on July 6, 1951. They purchased Hays Grocery located on Oregon Street, Mercersburg, from his father and in 1955 purchased Guyers Grocery, Fort Loudon. In 1960 they built Bill's Self Service, Fort Loudon. In 1987 they built Hays Shop Wise, now known as Food Lion, Mercersburg.

He enjoyed golf, traveling, tending his roses and mowing his lawn.

He was a member of Trinity UCC, Fort Loudon, where he helped with pot pie suppers and the peach festivals.

Bill was preceded in death by two children, William D. Hays, who died January 18, 2013 and Donna (Hays) Malone Keefer, who died December 11, 2019, four sisters and two brothers.

Surviving family include his wife, Anna, a son, Percy E. "Ed" (Peggy) Hays, Fort Loudon, four granddaughters, Penny (Cheyenne) Eader, Melissa (Kevin) Leidy, Carey (Dan) Ebersole, Destinee (Brett) Frisky, a step granddaughter, Sabrina (Rick) Wiley, six great granddaughters, Tiffany (Mark) Knight, Chelsie (Cody) McCulloch, Gracie and Callie Ebersole, Taylor and Breanna Leidy, two step great granddaughters, Lily and Lydia Wiley, great grandson, Cheyenne Eader, Jr. five great great grandchildren, Madison Eader, Adam Knight, Allison, Blain, and Anna McCulloch, and a sister, Gloria (Barrie) Hawk

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM May 29, 2021 in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with Reverend Marlene Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon.

Viewing one hour prior to the service Saturday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Trinity UCC, Fort Loudon.
