December 4, 1938 - January 15, 2021 Barbara S. Mendoza, age 82, of San Pedro, passed away on January 15, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones. She is predeceased by her husband; Wedo; children, Barbara-Renee, Andrew, Christina, and grandson, Brett; her parents, Cristobal and Sofia; brothers, Mike, Frank, Cristy, Victor, as of this writing-Tony, sisters Emma, Nani, and Ginger. She is survived by children Rudy (Marty), Edward Jr. (Kathy), Ernie (Kathy), Ray (Patty), Lisa Herrera (Joe) & 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, her siblings, Elena, Chuckie, Sofie (Lonie), Ned( Annie), Henry (Katie), sisters-in-law, Connie Salcido, Helen Salcido, Bea Salcido, Rosa Mendoza, Lorie Geluz, & brother-in-law Frank Ponce de Leon. Barbara was born on Dec. 4, 1938 in Wilmington, CA. She was one of 14, 7 boys, 7 girls. This started her journey to becoming a future loyal, loving family matriarch. Her pride and joy was to be surrounded by her siblings, her children, or especially her grandchildren. She was also heavily involved in her childhood community of Wilmington. She enjoyed the friendships forged while in the Sunshine Club at VFW Post 2967. She was also a member of the Wednesday Club in San Pedro. Traveling with friends and family was a great passion, as she loved to trek the world. After marrying Edward (Wedo) Mendoza, the nonstop adventures of raising 8 children began. She was a devoted sport loving Mom, Team Mom, Chaperone and Personal Taxi to her kids. She loved going to Banning Park to watch her kids play sports, sitting in her favorite spot in centerfield. Camping was also a great time spent with longtime friends/family, she loved the family setting of these travels. She always had a big smile on her face, and a hearty laugh felt throughout the room, especially when holding a glass of wine. She will be missed at the San Antonio Winery, as she was always greeted on a first name basis. Barbara will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. An outdoor Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm on February 12, 2021 at All Souls Mortuary, with the burial immediately following at All Souls Cemetery.
