06/25/1922 - 01/15/2021 Enid Moor Muse passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 15, 2021 at the age of 98. Enid was born Enid Ann Moor on June 25, 1922 in Eugene, Oregon to Hubert and Lucile Moor. Enid had one sister, Beverly Anderson, who passed away in 2019. A lifetime academic, Enid achieved honor status throughout her academic career. She attended Eugene High School and the University of Oregon where she matriculated with a Bachelor's Degree, majoring in Biology in 1944. She earned a Master's Degree at the University of Wisconsin with a dual major in Biology and Zoology in 1948. A proud member of Delta Gamma, she participated and kept contact with her sorority sisters throughout her life. In 1950, Enid married George "Buzz" Muse (1923 - 2008). They settled in Manhattan Beach, California where they raised their two sons, Douglas (b. 1953) and Judson (b. 1954). A passionate educator and bibliophile, Enid taught for the Los Angeles Unified School district from 1958 until she retired in 1980. During her retirement years she contributed her talents volunteering with the Junior Blind. She was a stickler for excellence and loved words. She was beloved by her students, some of whom she became a mentor and coach to. Enid is remembered fondly by a lifetime family friend, Donna Lewis Friess whom she mentored from Donna's early teen years. Donna recalls that Enid "would not let me get away with handing in messy papers to my junior high school teachers. Enid insisted that I care about my work product. She turned me into an A student." Another of Enid's mentees was a student of her ESL class, Pramod "Paul" Mahajan. Paul became a lifelong friend. When he needed a place to live she opened her home to him. As his academic career blossomed he earned his doctoral degree, and once again, Enid was there to offer a hand proofreading his dissertation. Having always loved the climate and ecology of Northern California, in 2006, Enid relocated to Santa Cruz. She enjoyed living in the Domincan Oaks Retirement community from 2006 until 2014. She lived out her last years at the Alexandria Victoria care home where they treated her with love and kindness. She is survived by sons Douglas (Annette) and their sons Will and Thomas from Santa Barbara, CA, Judson (Marian) of Santa Cruz, CA, Judson's 1st wife, Elaine, and their three children Jillian, Joseph, and Samual of Berkeley, CA, niece and nephews Julie, Jay and Steven Anderson of Washington state. As per Enid's wishes no services will be conducted.
