Aug. 30, 1936 - Dec. 3, 2020 Evelyn Morgan was born August 30, 1936 in San Pedro California. She was the third of four children born to Justina and Rufino Mendoza. At the age of 18, she married Richard Mansfield and had four beautiful children, Tony, Tina, Teri, and Tami. After several years they divorced and Evelyn went to work for the L.A. County Marshal's Department. There, her sister introduced her to Bernard Morgan, a Deputy Marshal. They fell in love and were soon married. They had two additional beautiful girls, Kathleen and Colleen. To Evelyn, community involvement was the center in her life. She was intrinsically involved with the Toberman Settlement House, Holy Trinity Catholic Church Ministries, and the Assistance League of San Pedro. She was even nominated Humanitarian of the Year award. Evelyn and Bernard enjoy traveling on many occasions. She also excelled at setting up charitable events and loved having holidays with her entire family; kids, grandkids, great grandkids- a "small" family gathering was often 30 to 40 people. In the end, she was excited about reuniting with the love of her life, passing less than a year after Bernard. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Justina and Rufino Mendoza, brother, Ernest Mendoza, and sister, Helena Pottorf. She is survived by her children, Tony Mansfield (wife, Amy), Tina Cortez (husband Jose), Teri Calderon, Tami Mansfield, Kathleen Morgan, and Colleen McGarry (husband Aidan). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and brother Robert Mendoza. Due to COVID restrictions, private services were held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial following at Green Hills Memorial Park. An additional celebration of life will be planned post pandemic. Please sign the guestbook at
