Mom was my home away from home. I could go to her apartment and hang out with her and the boys. Her door was always open to me and my friends. She even tried to straighten my hair with an iron one time! She listened without judgment and gave wise advice when asked. She came to my wedding beautiful as always. We lost touch until Facebook found us again. We stayed in touch and she watched my kids grow up.
It's never easy to lose someone you knew and loved for so long. My heart is broken because at the end, she stopped posting and I never reached out. I'm sending love and light to the boys, her daughters in law and her daughter. Rest in Love, Mom. You are safe, warm and pain free now.
I love you.

Jan was a special lady who raised seven kind and wonderful children. She worked closely with my sister Marilyn at GTE for many years as friends and colleagues. It seemed like we became one big happy family through the years enjoying a lifetime of celebrations. Besides raising a family, Jan was a hard worker who was respected by all. Additionally she devoted her time and talents volunteering to many programs. Tony and I will miss her at future get togethers. Jan and I, as the only octogenarians naturally seemed to gravitate to each other. Somehow I think she will always be with us. She wasn’t one to miss a party.

She was a wonderful woman who always had a smile and always made you feel at ease. She was also very knowledgeable woman. I remember on a houseboat trip we took when we would stop for the night and sit on shore and she would point out the constellations for us. Also I remember she was a docent at the museum and was a storehouse of information. She was a great lady and will be sorely missed.

She was called "Mom" by many people beyond her own family. When I grew up there was always a "stray" bonus son or daughter living at the house for extended periods, a house of 9 could be 11 or 12 at times because she would take in anyone that needed help. or just a roof over their heads for a period of time. We've had many people share memories of Mom on her Facebook page as she touch so many peoples lives. Thank you for sharing your memories with us.
