March 29, 1927 - December 18, 2020 After a long and full life "Judy" Lent, age 93, passed away at home with her family and long-time caregiver by her side. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York to Max and Jennie Levenberg she met John Lent, as a teenager and they married in 1949. Following her husband's aerospace job transfer, they moved their young family to LA in the early 1960's, and mom found our home for the next 58 years in Manhattan Beach. Judy was a teacher's aide in the public school system, a Cub Scout den mother, an active member in the MB Property Owners Assoc., played tennis, bowled and was active in the Joslyn Center later in life. Much more than that, she made many deep and lasting friendships and was greatly admired and appreciated for her genuine warmth and infectious smile. Despite decades on the west coast, she never lost her unique New York perspective and accompanying accent. She cared deeply about and was a passionate defender of civil and human rights. She is preceded in death by John F. Lent (2005) and is survived by her two sons, Brian Lent of Altadena, CA, Michael Lent of Brooklyn, NY, and her daughters-in-law, Lynn and Diane. Donations in Judy's memory can be made to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), www.aclu.org. or the LA Foodbank, www.lafoodbank.org.
