July 16, 1932 - March 30, 2021 Our beloved Bud passed on to new life on March 30, 2021. He was born, raised, and lived his entire life in San Pedro. Serving in the Navy as a young man, Bud later became a longshoreman, then a foreman on the docks for 39 years. He was blessed with 64 beautiful years of marriage to his wife Dee Dee. He loved tinkering in the garage & yard and never missed a weekend to wash his car! Bud also enjoyed travel, taking long Sunday drives, and shooting the breeze with his pals. His wife Dee Dee, son Danny and wife Lisa, son Kenny and wife Monique, grandkids Anna, Paige, and Lance, and all of his family and friends will greatly miss his banter, dry wit and loving heart. Due to Covid restrictions, the funeral service is private but the viewing at McNerney's Mortuary in San Pedro on April 13 from 2-4pm is open to the first 40 guests. A brief gravesite service is open to ALL at Green Hills Memorial Park on April 14 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to SPCA Los Angeles (spcala.com). Please sign the guestbook at mcnerneysmortuary.com.

My Uncle Bud was a joy to be around, with is constant joking and teasing. Growing up in San Pedro, sharing holidays with Uncle Bud, Auntie DeeDee, Danny and Kenny at my grandparent's (Paul and Auda Meliota) house, my brothers, Greg and Randy Meliota, and parents, Paul and Dolly Meliota (Suich) and I enjoyed the traditional festivities together. We also frequently met for Sunday dinners at Mom's and Pop's house on 19th and I am glad Uncle Bud followed my grandfather's example and appreciated a glass or two of robust wine as a true Italian should. I have fond memories of those Sunday dinners and the bantering. My condolences to Aunt DeeDee, Danny and Kenny and families. I will never forget Uncle Bud's twinkle in his eyes and sly grin. My mom Dolly also has many fond memories, many more than I since she met Bud when he was still a kid before she married his brother. RIP.

I was fortunate and had the privilege to have worked with Bud Meliota. Remembering, Bud attending the classes that I held at PMA was not only educational and enlightening and it was entertaining; save the great humor and bantering that made my day propitious. Bud will be missed but his comicality and his engagement with amusement will live with us onto the end of our days.
