Oct. 29, 1944 - March 10, 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of Bob Lombardi announce his sudden passing on the morning of March 10, 2021. A New Jersey native, Bob graduated from St. Peter's College. While there he joined the ROTC, earning a place on the exclusive trick drill team that travelled across the county competing in precision trick drills. He went on to be commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the US Army. A lifelong supporter of our armed forces, he was stationed at Ft. Riley, KS and transferred to Seoul, Korea during the Vietnam war, where he was the Commanding Officer of the 21st Transportation Car Company and received the first of two Army Commendation medals. Growing up in the plumbing business, he started two successful companies, Lombardi Plumbing & Heating and Lombardi Kitchen and Bath Concepts in NJ. Nothing was more important to Bob than family so when his grandchildren were born he left his life in the Garden State and headed west. In 2005 Bob and his devoted wife Mary Lee moved to Southern California to be in the lives of their daughters and their families, purchasing a home at New Horizons in Torrance, California. His motto was always "Family First." Once here, Bob got his California plumbers license and worked as the Home Depot Master Plumber. His passions were baseball, golf and football, especially Green Bay Packers and all the college teams of his children and grandchildren, Florida State then University of Miami and UCLA and his beloved New York Yankees. He loved traveling and golfing, cruises with family and friends, cooking (especially Italian food), music, Broadway shows, politics and Fox News and birthdays at Benihana. Bob will always be remembered as a sentimental and loving person. He would often tear up when any of his family members made accomplishments, a graduation, a spelling bee, gymnastics, swimming, he was in the back with a hanky. Often, he would say he has something in his eye, but his tears of joy and compassion were so endearing, and we loved to look at his red-faced tears, filled with true pride and joy. He loved his wife, his daughters and his grandchildren without condition. He loved his life at New Horizons, his friends and working on the Board of New Horizons. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Mary Lee Lombardi; daughters, Annette Lombardi Zuker and Roberta June Lombardi; son-in-law, Danny Zuker; his three grandchildren, Lily, Charlie and Michael Zuker; his sister, Barbara Biagi; nephew, Richard Biagi; nieces, Susan Tordoff, Kim Sushko, Sarah Siereveld and other great nephews and great nieces. Bob was a bigger than life personality and leaves an equally big hole in the lives of all who knew and loved him. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, April 12, 2021 at St. Lawrence Martyrs Catholic Church, 1940 S. Prospect Ave., Redondo Beach, CA with viewing at 9:15 am. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cypress. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to St. Lawrence Martyrs in his name. Argos Funeral Service 424-383-1990
