Jack was born in 1951 to Jacob and Elizabeth Krch in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, he joined Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, and found Jesus under the guidance of Rev. Howard Rice. He began a life of service while at Oberlin College, establishing a city/college presence in the town's six nursing homes.
