WALCOTT-Loretta E. Beitel, age 84, of Walcott, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at her home. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Burial will take place in Walcott Cemetery, Walcott. Memorials may be given to the Walcott American Legion Post# 548 or the Walcott Fire Department. Online condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com.

Loretta was born on June 29, 1935, the daughter of John and Martha B. (Dettman) Hayne in Iowa City, Iowa. She graduated from Davenport High School with the Class of 1953. Loretta married Bernhard "Ben" H. Beitel on November 24, 1956 in Davenport, Iowa. Ben died on November 15, 2008.

Loretta was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. She was also a member of ASHHS, the Walcott American Legion Auxiliary, the Walcott Day Committee, and was past president of the Walcott Cemetery Board. She loved jigsaw puzzles, Polka music and traveling to Germany.

Loretta is survived by her two sons, Darren (LaDonna) Beitel of Davenport and Mark Beitel of Stockton, Iowa; one granddaughter, Alyssa (Brett Marbach) Beitel of Masonville, Iowa; one sister, Patricia Lovewell of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; one brother, John Hayne of Davenport; and one brother in-law, Jack Horton of Rock Island, Illinois; and one sister in-law, Martha Otte of Princeton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben; one daughter, Cyndi Beitel; three sisters, Dolores Carman, Myrna Horton, and Dorothy McVey; and three brothers in-law, Larry Lovewell, Jerry McVey, and Karl Otte.
