Orville "Shorty" Lemkau

Orville "Shorty" Lemkau, 89, of Muscatine, Iowa, died Friday, September 14, 2007, at his home in Muscatine. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Rites provided by the combined units of the VFW Post 1565 and the American Legion Post 27. Orville Ralph Lemkau, better known as "Shorty" was born July 20, 1918, in Muscatine, the son of John August Lemkau and Minnie Bell (McGill) Lemkau. On August 31, 1940, he was united in marriage to Helen Louise Gravert in Muscatine.
Orville will be deeply missed by his three daughters, Joyce Reed and her husband, Randy, Patricia Kellor and her husband, Richard, and Linda Pace and her husband, Glen, all of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, Shelley Jones-Clark, Jeffrey Jones, Steven Edwards, Lynette Larson, Gregory Larson, Shawna Moss and Scott Pace; 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in law, Betty Hall, Auro Lemkau, Jean Lemkau, and Donna Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen, August 27, 2007, four brothers, Elmer Freeze, Harold Lemkau, George Lemkau and Kenneth Lemkau, and two sisters, Helen King and Cora Mae Thorton.
