Theodore Spurgetis Obituary

Theodore D. "Ted" Spurgetis, 57, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Ted was born July 20, 1949, in Moline, a son of Gus and Esther (Malires) Spurgetis. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1967 and from the University of Illinois in 1971.
He worked for the Johns Manville Corp, and later joined the family dry cleaning business.
He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island, and the University of Illinois Boosters. Ted was a volunteer at Trinity Medical Center and with The Salvation Army. He enjoyed playing golf and listening to music and was an avid reader.
Survivors include a daughter, Dena Spurgetis, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; his mother, Esther Spurgetis, Rock Island; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Spurgetis, Rock Island, and Jim and Katie Spurgetis, Spokane, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
